Accessibility built into the learning experience

PebblePad is committed to delivering equitable learning experiences through accessible design, independent auditing, and ongoing alignment with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.

Accessibility is fundamental to learning

Every learner should be able to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and achievements without barriers.

At PebblePad, accessibility is not an afterthought or a compliance exercise. It is a core part of how we design, build and improve our products, helping institutions create more inclusive learning, assessment and professional development experiences. We believe disability, assistive technology, or preferred ways of working should never prevent someone from participating fully in education.

Our goal is simple: to provide equitable experiences that give every learner the opportunity to succeed.

Built with accessibility in mind

Accessibility is embedded throughout our product development lifecycle, from initial design through to release and ongoing enhancement.

Since 2025, we have significantly expanded our accessibility programme, including:

A dedicated accessibility engineering team

Accessibility reviews throughout design and development

Cross-functional accessibility champions across the business

Regular collaboration with independent accessibility specialists

Ongoing engagement with customers, educators and learners to inform improvements

This approach helps ensure accessibility remains an integral part of product quality, usability and innovation.

Conformance and compliance

PebblePad is committed to meeting internationally recognised accessibility standards.

Following extensive evaluation and testing, PebblePad has achieved WCAG 2.2 AA conformance across all core user journeys within Pebble+ and PebblePocket, supporting accessible experiences for learners, educators and assessors.

Our accessibility programme is guided by:

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)

For institutions conducting accessibility reviews or procurement assessments, we provide a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) detailing our accessibility conformance.

Tested by experts and real users

Accessibility is validated through a combination of automated testing, manual testing and assistive technology testing.

We regularly evaluate PebblePad and PebblePocket using:

Screen readers

Keyboard-only navigation

Voice access tools

Magnification and zoom technologies

Independent accessibility audits

Testing involving users with disabilities

Audit findings are tracked, prioritised and incorporated into future releases as part of our continuous improvement approach.

Accessibility is a journey, not a destination

We are committed to being transparent about both our achievements and the areas where we continue to improve.

Accessibility is not treated as a one-time project. It is an ongoing process of learning, validation and enhancement informed by independent auditing, customer feedback and evolving standards. Our accessibility roadmap continues to focus on improving remaining areas of the platform while supporting future regulatory requirements and user needs.

Supporting educators to create accessible learning experiences
