Explore how the Justice Institute of British Columbia deployed ePortfolios to support a new course as part of its Advanced Specialty Certificate in Community Care Licensing programme.
To help learners overcome the many personal and practical barriers to completing the existing six-week full-time practice education placement component, the Institute’s Junsong Zhang, Albertine De Leon and Ben Coulas created a new 12-week online instructor-facilitated course. PebblePad was utilised to:
- Enable students to curate and showcase the work they complete during the programme and provide an opportunity to develop professional digital identities.
- Embrace authentic learning in the digital space and share ideas, stories and beliefs, leading to better knowledge production, application and mobilisation.
- Allow instructors to provide personalised formative and fair feedback, helping to facilitate the mapping of students’ learning journey and aid personal growth.
By deploying PebblePad ePorfolios as part of the solution, the CCLO programme is now able to support learners who may have otherwise been unable to finish the placement, which has led to more equitable, inclusive outcomes for all.
